Josie Speaks out About Kaylie’s Eating Disorder
Posted by Admin on September 3, 2010 Category: Interview, Josie Loren

We recently had the chance to talk to Make It or Break It’s Josie Loren about Kaylie’s current struggle with an eating disorder. Keep reading to see what Josie had to say about this extremely important storyline!

In last night’s summer finale, we saw that Kaylie’s eating disorder has some serious health consequences for her. Do you think she can overcome this?
Josie:
I do. The reason I believe it is she did this for control. I think her ultimate goal was she wanted to keep her family together, and the way she was going to do that was by being the World’s best gymnast. The only way she knew how to do that was to beat Genji Cho and she got it in her head that the way to do that was to be thinner than Genji Cho so she could do the moves that Genji did. When all of that comes tumbling down and she falls on the beam, she messes with her chance of being on the World Team. Her goal has basically gone down the drain. It totally backfired on her. I think because she had that fall on the beam, it will hopefully lead her in the right direction.

What kind of response have you received from fans about this storyline?
Josie:
It’s incredible the response I’ve gotten, especially on Twitter! Girls are telling me how they’ve dealt with this issue and how seeing Kaylie go through this has inspired them and helped them realize there is still hope. Just something letting them know they’re not alone is so comforting in and of itself. I say that out loud and I get goose bumps! The fact that I’m able to play this storyline and reach out to girls like that, it’s so special for me.

Did you do any research on eating disorders to prepare for the story?
Josie:
Yes, I did. But I already was very in touch with it because I grew up dealing with [eating disorders] through friends, and trying to help friends through it. I knew what it was like to see someone progress into an eating disorder.

Cassie Scerbo: A Back Stage Exclusive
Posted by Admin on Category: Cassie Scerbo, Interview

“I think no matter what it is in life you should always have a goal, and something to work towards, and a passion,” says Cassie Scerbo, and she has all of them in abundance.

From an old-school Italian family on Long Island, Cassie was a member of the group Slumber Party Girls before landing her first film role in “Bring It On: In It to Win It.” She currently stars as gymnast Lauren Tanner on ABC Family’s “Make It or Break It;” its fourth season ends this week.

A triple threat as an actress, singer, and dancer, Cassie still finds time in her busy schedule to give back through her non-profit organization Nothing’s Impossible.

Chosen as this week’s Actor2Watch, Cassie will be featured in a series or articles, fun facts and social media tweets through this week for subscribers of Girl2Watch.com.

Actor2Watch: What was your first real break as an actor?
Cassie Scerbo:
I was in a girl group (Slumber Party Girls), we were signed to Geffen Records and we were on CBS Saturday mornings performing on a show “Dance Revolution.” We were the house band. I was put up here in a big, beautiful apartment, and they gave us cars and a per diem—everything you could dream [was] possible. It was really exciting because that was the first time I saw myself on TV not as an extra on a Burger King commercial, which was my first job.

My first movie was “Bring It On.” That was an amazing experience. I got to live at the Hard Rock Hotel, in Orlando, Florida for about two months, which is so cool. I did all my own stunts. I’m like the biggest daredevil and the most competitive person ever. When I put my mind to something I have to go 200%, so that was a really exciting experience. I have to say those two [projects] were the true breakthroughs.

JSYK Cassie Scerbo Twitter-view
Posted by Admin on Category: Cassie Scerbo, Twitter

Here’s a bit of a recap of Cassie Scerbo’s tweets from JSYK tweets during the season finale of Make It or Break It on Tuesday night.

Did you catch the Make It or Break It mid-season finale? Cassie Scerbo, who plays the always conniving Lauren Tanner, was watching from her California condo and tweeted with us during the show.

We won’t spill details about the finale in case it’s recorded on your DVR, but Lauren was involved in a super-emotional scene and we think Cassie deserves an Emmy – or at least a Teen Choice Award – for her performance.

“Filming that intense scene was VERY emotional 4 me, @codylongo was off shooting @Not_Today_Movie & my fam was on the E coast,” Cassie tweeted to us. “I listened to “lift me up” by Christina Aguilera and for about a wk prior, I was anxious and depressed, I like to truly feel what my character goes through. It was rough on me, but felt so good 2 let go of everything & just b in that moment.”

Cassie won’t be missing her boyfriend Cody Longo for much longer. Cody’s been shooting Not Today, but tweet-a-holic Cassie announced on her Twitter page that she’ll be playing his on-screen girlfriend in the movie. Art imitating life much?

The New York native can’t wait to also spend time with her on-screen rival but off-screen bestie Nicole Anderson, who celebrated a birthday on August 29th. She tweeted us yesterday, “I’m excited to see Nicole this wk, hopefully to have a make-up bday din!”
